The stage is set for a fresh showdown between the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service and Kenya Medical Training Colleges over the selection of students.
This follows the placement agency’s selection of 2,177 students to be enrolled at 42 medical colleges across the country.
On the other hand, the director of the colleges (KMTC), Mr Peter Tum, said the institution had finished its own selection and asked students to check the status of their applications.
“KMTC has concluded the selection of its students for 2016/17 and successful candidates are advised to check on the KMTC portal,” said Mr Tum in a notice in the local dailies.
In February, Mr Tum warned Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exam graduates seeking to join the college against applying through any other channel.
However, the placement agency’s chief executive, Mr John Muraguri, said the medical college should not admit students, insisting his is the only institution tasked with placing government-sponsored students in public colleges.
